Building Software Integration

ASC Steel Deck’s structural decking products integrate into several commonly used engineering and design programs. This integration enables engineers and designers to create or modify projects using our broad range of roof and floor deck profiles. To assist users, software guidance, recent updates, download links, and installation tips are provided below.

Available Software and Programs

Risa is a structural analysis and design software that provides engineers with tools that are capable of solving design challenges and have multiple software packages. Risa Floor is one of many Risa software products which creates an intuitive floor-by-floor modeling environment for straightforward multi-story building creation.

Risa Floor V18.0 was released on February 20, 2024. ASC Steel Deck profiles are now available in the default deck database of Risa Floor. Download this version HERE with video guidance on how to use HERE.

Tekla Structures is a software product that enables all project stakeholders to create, combine, manage, and share construction information in real time. 3D BIM models are created in Tekla Structures , allowing structural engineers, designers, detailers, fabricators, contractors, and project managers to access updated models simultaneously.

ASC Steel Deck’s complete range of roof and floor deck profiles are available in the Tekla Structures Profile Catalogue. Standard in 2022 SP2 to 2024 Tekla releases, these versions include all sidelap, profile, and gauge variations.  Users no longer need to download separate plugins. Legacy plugin versions for 2021 and 2022 are available by request.

Autodesk Revit is a building information modeling (BIM) software for architects, engineers, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers, designers, and contractors which allows users to design a building, structure and other components in 3D, with 2D drafting elements and views, and supporting building model’s databases.

ASC Steel Deck has developed a Revit Add-in including all roof, floor, and non-composite profiles for all variations of side laps, gauges, materials, and finishes. These 3D profiles are supported by 2D drafting views, including profile measurements and attachment patterns. ASC Steel Deck’s Revit Add-in can be used on all versions of Autodesk Revit 2020 – 2024.

Hilti PROFIS Engineering Diaphragm Design is a web-based software that helps design a cost-effective fastening solution for steel deck diaphragms. This web-based software can run customizable diaphragm calculations with Hilti support connections and Hilti sidelap connections. ASC Steel Deck roof and floor deck panels are included in the category of steel deck selection.  A list of the profiles available is below:

  • ASC Steel Deck – Roof Deck:  ASC N-32, ASC NN-32, ASC 2WH-36, and ASC 3WxH-36
  • ASC Steel Deck – Floor Deck:  ASC NH-32, ASC NHN-32, ASC 2WH-36, ASC 2WHS-36, ASC 3WxH-36, and ASC 3WxHS-36

Access the Hilti PROFIS Engineering Diaphragm Design and start designing with our products on your next projects.

User Note: Hilti PROFIS Engineering Diaphragm Design follows IBC 2021 and backend calculations are supported by ICC ESR-2197ESR-2776, and ESR-3693. The diaphragm shear capacity limitations which occur with strong sidelaps in combination with greater support connection patterns are now addressed by Hilti PROFIS Engineering Diaphragm Design.

IES VisualAnalysis is a software that enables engineers and designers to analyze and evaluate the behavior and performance of structural systems by creating structural models and defining various boundary conditions and loading conditions. IES VisualAnalysis performs linear and nonlinear analyses and finite element analysis. ASC Steel Deck products can be found in the steel deck database of IES VisualAnalysis V22.0 and V23.0. You can download a free trial version or purchase the software here.

Bentley RAM Structural System is a software that provides a comprehensive solution for analyzing, designing, drafting, and documenting steel and concrete buildings, foundations, and individual structural components, all in compliance with building codes. ASC Steel Deck composite steel deck products are available in Bentley RAM Structural System 2024.

RAM Structural System 2024 was released on June 25, 2024, with new updates. ASC Steel Deck floor profiles are now available in the default deck database for RAM Structural System.

ABAQUS is a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software that assists engineers in simulating complex problems in various industries. With ABAQUS, engineers can simulate advanced models by assigning materials to geometries. Engineers can simulate stress and deformation in isotropic and anisotropic metals at varying temperatures and strain rates. ABAQUS models are typically used in building design when analyzing complex structural behaviors, especially under high loads, non-linear material properties, large deformations, or intricate interactions between components.

The ASC Steel Deck ABAQUS plug-in includes all roof, floor and non-composite profiles with all variations of sidelaps and gages. Users can also select cellular profiles and specify the panel length within the plug-in. When composite profiles are selected, the model includes embossment patterns and will automatically generate embossments along the full length of the panel.

ASC Steel Deck’s ABAQUS Plug-in generates the geometry with section properties of profiles from our catalogs from 5 ft. to 40 ft. length. The plug-in uses a Python kernel script that leverages the functionality of ABAQUS/CAE to generate geometries. This plug-in is intended for use in ABAQUS/CAE 2023 and later.
