ABAQUS is a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software that assists engineers in simulating complex problems in various industries. With ABAQUS, engineers can simulate advance models by assigning materials to geometries. Engineers can simulate stress and deformation in isotropic and anisotropic metals at varying temperatures and strain rates. Engineers can model any physically reasonable combination of elements, materials, procedures and loading sequences and bring their ideas to reality by creating models without limitations.
The ASC Steel Deck ABAQUS Plug-in includes all roof, floor and noncomposite profiles with all variations of sidelaps and gages. Users can also select cellular profiles. In addition to the library of ASC Steel Deck profiles, users can specify the panel length within the plug-in. When composite profiles are selected, the model includes embossment patterns and will automatically generate embossments along the full length of the panel. Note that this may result in a short waiting period while the model is generating.
ASC Steel Deck’s ABAQUS Plug-in generates the geometry with section properties of profiles from our catalogs from 5 ft. to 40 ft. length. The plug-in uses a Python kernel script that leverages the functionality of ABAQUS/CAE to generate geometries. This plug-in is intended for use in ABAQUS/CAE 2023 and later. In addition, it is supported by a detailed User Guide that is available to download for free.

ABAQUS models are typically used in building design when analyzing complex structural behaviors, especially under high loads, non-linear material properties, large deformations, or intricate interactions between components. For your next FEA model, whether it’s assessing the seismic performance of a high-rise building or conducting a failure analysis, utilize ASC Steel Deck’s ABAQUS Plug-in to enhance your simulations.
